Black People United for Change is proud to introduce Black People United for Change Listeners, a compassionate emotional support service designed to provide a safe, non-biased, and understanding space for anyone in need of someone to talk to. While our mission is rooted in supporting the Black Diaspora and addressing the trauma caused by exposure to anti-Black racism, our service is open to all individuals, regardless of background, who are seeking emotional support, connection, and understanding.
Our vision is simple but powerful: to ensure that no one feels alone during their most difficult moments. Whether someone is facing crisis, navigating racial trauma, dealing with personal stress, or simply needing a comforting presence, our volunteers are here to listen with empathy and without judgment. As part of our commitment to global Black communities, we are also extending our support to individuals affected by Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica, offering a compassionate ear during an extremely challenging time.
Black People United for Change Listeners will operate 7 days a week, from 8:00 AM to midnight, ensuring that individuals have accessible support during the hours they may need it most. In addition to emotional support, we also assist with connecting people to community resources, crisis support options, and information to help them stay safe and supported.
To make this initiative possible, we are inviting community members who are kind, patient, and empathetic to join our growing team of emotional support volunteers. If you feel called to provide comfort, understanding, and a steady presence for individuals in need, we encourage you to register. You can complete the volunteer application here:https://forms.office.com/r/pjVeu3GF1f?origin=lprLink
Together, we can create a powerful network of care—uplifting racialized individuals, supporting those navigating crisis, and offering a listening ear to anyone who needs one.
